Chapter 158: Doubts

Chapter 158: Doubts

Drexel saw this and sighed with relief. He quickly slipped to Captain Sentence’s side, as if he had seen a savior.

He was so eager that it seemed like he couldn’t wait to fight the insectoids.

Captain Sentence thought the same and looked at Drexel with some emotion, saying, "Young man, you’re still young. Don’t push yourself so hard. We adults are here to help."

Seeing Captain Sentence misunderstanding, Drexel silently screamed in his mind, ’Compared to Arix, Supergiant-Class insectoids are nothing!’

But he didn’t dare say this out loud. If Arix heard, he wouldn’t make it back to the Alliance standing up.

Drexel forced a very reluctant smile and nodded to Sentence, pretending to agree.

Sentence, thinking Drexel had listened to his advice, smiled back with satisfaction.

He felt even more that Drexel was truly a kind, brave, and humble young man.

When everyone was ready for the battle, Captain Sentence invited everyone over.

Everybody hoped Sentence would lead the battle, but Sentence shook his head and said, "I only took the lead before because there was no suitable person. Now that the right person is here, I don’t need to show off."

As Sentence finished speaking, everyone looked over curiously.

They were all wondering who Sentence was talking about.

"Mr. Kering, come over here," Sentence said, looking at Drexel, who was standing by and watching the show.

Drexel’s jaw dropped.

Under the skeptical and disapproving gazes of the crowd, Drexel calmly stood next to Sentence.

Actually, it wasn’t just the crowd; even Arix was a bit surprised.

She looked at Gillian beside her and asked worriedly, "Are you sure you want him to do that? After all, he’s still a student."

Gillian smiled and said, "Miss Arix, you probably don’t know much about the heirs of the five major families, do you?"

Arix nodded. She didn’t know much because Drexel usually seemed carefree, making it easy to overlook his abilities.

But thinking about the battle with the insectoid crown prince, Arix hesitated.

Even she couldn’t beat Quispe, but Drexel could suppress him. Clearly, he wasn’t weak.

Gillian had heard that Miss Kering from the Kering family had been lost on Planet Waste for nearly ten years and was only recently found.

If she had lived in such an isolated place, it was normal not to know these things.

Seeing Arix still deep in thought, a hint of pity flashed in Gillian’s eyes. He gently explained, "The heirs of the five families are not only skilled in military tactics but also possess great combat abilities. So, Miss Kering, you don’t need to worry. Plus, we’re here. We won’t let anything happen to your brother."

"Thank you, sir," Arix gratefully replied. Then, she turned her gaze to Drexel, standing at the front of the crowd.

At that moment, Drexel was facing everyone’s doubts. It wasn’t that they had anything against him personally; they just didn’t want to trust their lives to a child.

"Captain Sentence, it’s not that we doubt you, but this is too much. He’s barely even an adult. How can we trust a kid to lead us?" said a space mercenary with a large machete, full of skepticism.

"Yeah, this is a battle, not child’s play. We can’t risk our lives on this kind of joke. If this is the case, I’m not going," a businessman added, who was already regretting his impulsive decision to join.

"Captain Sentence, you should lead. We trust the Alliance military more," the leader of the mercenaries said coldly.

"Yes, Captain Sentence, you should take charge," Captain Sentence started to persuade.

He even thought to himself that Sentence was being childish.

Facing the crowd’s doubts, Sentence didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he looked at Drexel and asked, "Mr. Kering, what do you think?"

"Sir, you can call me Drexel," Drexel smiled at Sentence. Then he turned to the crowd and said, "My name is Drexel Kering, the heir of the Kering family of the Alliance. Are you still worried?"

Drexel’s voice wasn’t loud, but it struck the crowd like thunder.

They might not know Drexel’s name, but the title of an heir of one of the Alliance’s five major families was enough to shock them.

An heir of the five major families also meant the future admiral of one of the Alliance’s five great legions.

If he wasn’t qualified to lead, then no one in the world would be.

The crowd swallowed hard, and their attitudes changed instantly.

"So you are the young master of the Kering family. My apologies for the misunderstanding. Why didn’t you say so earlier? We were worried for nothing," the mercenary with the large machete said, smiling awkwardly.

"Yes, it’s an honor to follow your command. I hope you can give me an autograph afterward. I’ll cherish it as a family heirloom," the businessman said, transforming from a critic to an eager follower.

"It’s an honor to fight by your side," the mercenary leader said to Drexel, nodding in approval.

"With Mr. Kering here, not even ten Supergiant-Class insectoids would be a problem..." One man began to flatter Drexel, but his friend quickly covered his mouth and dragged him away.

With everyone on the same page, Drexel used his opticomputer to create a temporary channel, adding everyone’s numbers.

Drexel gave his first order: everyone needed to get into their mechas and prep for battle.

Hearing his youthful yet energetic voice in their headsets, the group no longer feared facing a Supergiant-Class insectoid. Instead, they were filled with determination.

After all, this young man was the future admiral of the Alliance. Fighting alongside him today would be a great story to share with friends later!

When everyone took out their mechas, Drexel and Arix unveiled their impressive Supergiant-Class mechas, gifted by Luna Amethyst.

As Drexel and Arix displayed their mechas, a wave of envy swept through the crowd.

Drexel’s mecha, an ice-blue giant with a long spear, immediately locked onto him. It knelt, extended a hand, and in a cool yet respectful mechanical voice, said, "Master, my name is Blue Raven. I am pleased to fight with you."

Drexel, grinning, kissed its fingers and replied, "Hello, Blue Raven. I’m Drexel. The honor is mine."

Meanwhile, Arix eagerly held her mecha’s Space Button.

She summoned a fiery red mecha, brandishing a sword. It also knelt before her, despite its fierce appearance, and said in a cold voice, "Master, my name is Star Dust. I am pleased to fight with you."

"Thank you, Star Dust. I’m Arix. It’s an honor to fight with you." She shook the finger of the mecha, which was as thick as her waist.

With introductions done, Arix and Drexel exchanged a look and a nod before entering their mecha cabins.

Inside her cabin, Arix saw Star Dust’s AI on a screen. The AI appeared as a young woman, around 15, dressed in a red combat suit and wielding a large machete, exuding a silent but lethal vibe.

After greeting each other again, Arix linked her psychic power with Star Dust’s AI. Star Dust’s voice then resonated in the cabin.

"Psychic system, connected!"

"Energy system, sufficient!"

"Power system, normal!"

"Mecha self-check complete. Everything is normal. Please prepare for battle, Master."

"Star Dust, start the energy system and get ready for battle," Arix instructed, verifying the mecha with her psychic power.

"Yes, Master," Star Dust replied.

The energy system roared to life, converting energy stones into power.

Arix was all set. Once everyone was ready, Drexel’s voice came through the wireless headset.

"Captain, open the front hatch of the spaceship. Over."

"Received, opening the hatch. Over."

"Roger, over."

As the spaceship’s hatch slowly opened, the Supergiant-Class insectoids outside grew more agitated, claws ready, attacking the ship’s energy shield.
