Chapter 149: Ancient Stories

Once she confirmed the tiger was indeed addressing her, Arix held her face with her paws, staring in horror. ’Am I dreaming, or did I somehow transmigrate again?’

Desperately, she called out in her mind, "Cupid, Vita, Sophia, are you there? What’s going on? This is terrifying!"

But there was no response from her psychic world. Instead, the tiger scratched its head, puzzled. "Sylvana, did you just call me?"

Arix shook her head wildly. She had clearly been calling for Sophia and the others!

"That’s strange. I could have sworn you were calling me, but you didn’t say a word. Must be my imagination," the tiger muttered, looking around to confirm they were alone.

The next moment, the tiger felt the strange sensation again, as if Sylvana was calling out to him.

Staring suspiciously at Arix, the tiger saw no movement from her mouth but still felt the presence of a call. He began to check the surroundings, frowning.

Arix, meanwhile, was too frightened to make a sound. Yet she realized that whenever she called out to Sophia and the others, the tiger would react. ’what’s going on?’ she wondered.

As she tried to think, an answer suddenly popped into her head. The tiger before her was actually Cupid, Vita, and Sophia merged into one soul instead of being split into three.

This revelation made Arix’s eyes widen in shock. If she was right, the current time was likely before the first great disaster on ancient Earth. And the Moon Goddess Sylvana was probably her past self!

Arix wanted to deny it, but her mind kept providing the same answer: she was indeed the reincarnation of Sylvana. Both Arix in the interstellar age and Sylvana from ancient Earth shared the same soul.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Arix felt like her world was crumbling. She had somehow become the mastermind behind the separation of her grandparents, and the Moon Goddess Temple was built for her!

As she struggled with these revelations, the roaring tiger returned from his fruitless search, He shook his head in frustration. "Sylvana, there’s no time left. You must come with me now. The great disaster will strike at dusk, and if we don’t leave, it’ll be too late."

Seeing Sylvana (Arix) still unresponsive, the tiger roared in frustration, "You’re still thinking about those low-level beings, aren’t you? Why are you so stubborn? We are divine gods. We can escape to safety and create new life forms!"

Arix felt torn. She wanted to leave, but those so-called low-level beings were probably her ancestors! She couldn’t just abandon them.

Despite her inner turmoil, she looked at the concerned tiger and sighed. "You go! Don’t worry about me. I have a way to save them."

"You have a way? What way? Those who are even more powerful than us have already left. They couldn’t save anyone, so what makes you think you can?" The tiger was beyond frustrated, almost desperate.

If he could overpower Sylvana, he would have knocked her out and taken her away in a sack.

"I’m not leaving. Go on your own," Arix insisted.

"Fine! Don’t regret it later," the tiger growled and stormed off.

Watching the tiger’s retreating figure, Arix sighed deeply. She doubted he would actually leave. If he did, how would Cupid and the others end up in her psychic world later? She wondered what he had done for her in her past life.

Arix closed her eyes, deep in thought. She recalled what the Pontifex had once said. In their time of despair, the divine Sylvana appeared. She sacrificed her power to create a moon boat, transferring all remaining life on ancient Earth to the safety. That exhausted her divine power and she fell into a deep sleep.

’In essence, I have to deplete my power to save my ancestors, moving them to other planets.’ The solution sprang to Arix’s mind without much thought: sacrifice herself to save the world. Offer Sylvana’s power to give all living beings on ancient Earth a chance to survive.

If the future of this world had nothing to do with her, Arix wouldn’t even consider such a selfless act. But now, knowing her connection to this world, she felt a strange sense of responsibility.

With a heavy heart, she acknowledged the solution. The idea of sacrificing herself was overwhelming, but if it meant saving her ancestors and securing the future, she couldn’t ignore it.

Arix felt a mix of resolve and dread. She was about to embark on a path that would change the fate of countless beings, including her own.

But as Arix considered the immense sacrifice ahead, her mind drifted to the future, to the interstellar era where she had her grandfather, father, mother, Drexel, Cirilla, Cassian, Scion, Sister Gwen... Thinking of all her family and friends, Arix let out a deeper sigh.

Since the sacrifice couldn’t be avoided, Arix decided to savor her final moments. It would be nice to see the landscapes of ancient Earth one last time.

Arix slowly walked away from the sacrificial platform, her heart heavy but resolute. She wandered through the lush forests, feeling the ancient trees’ rough bark and the soft moss beneath her feet.

The air was filled with the scent of wildflowers and the distant calls of unknown birds, a symphony of life she had never experienced in the interstellar age.

She made her way to a nearby river, its crystal-clear waters flowing gently over smooth stones. Kneeling by the riverbank, Arix dipped her fingers into the cool water, watching the ripples dance away.

She closed her eyes and listened to the soothing sound of the water, letting it calm her racing thoughts.

The sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the landscape.

Arix climbed a hill to get a better view, standing on its peak as she watched the sky blaze with colors. Reds, oranges, and purples painted the heavens, a stunning farewell from the world she was about to leave behind.
