Chapter 145: Precious Gifts
Chapter 145: Precious Gifts
Arix presented two beautiful sachets. The light purple one had a purple fox embroidered on it, while the pure black one had a majestic white werewolf. She first pushed the black sachet towards Alpha Leonidas and then gave the light purple one to Luna Amethyst.
Alpha Leonidas, surprised to receive a gift, picked up the black sachet, examining it with interest. "Is this a sachet?" Luna Amethyst asked, both surprised and curious, as she looked over the small item in her hand.
Arix nodded, feeling a bit shy. "Yes, I made it myself. The sachets are filled with medicinal ingredients that help calm the mind and soothe the spirit. I hope you like them."
"How could not? We love it! Arix, you’re so sweet," Luna Amethyst replied, clearly delighted as she admired the delicate sachet.
It wasn’t just the function but also the craftsmanship that captivated her. The fox, in particular, looked just like her true form, showing how much thought Arix had put into the gift.
"Arix, don’t you think something’s missing?" Cassian suddenly interjected with a pout.
Arix rolled her eyes at him before retrieving a light blue sachet from her Space Button. "I prepared this for you earlier. See if you like it," Arix said, pushing the sachet with a werewolf pup towards Cassian.
"I love anything from you, Arix," Cassian said, cherishing the sachet as he examined it.
Luna Amethyst watched her son’s interaction with Arix, a smile playing on her lips.
She couldn’t help thinking how Cassian’s sweet demeanor resembled hers, unlike his father, who was terrible at wooing girls back in the day.
Luna Amethyst glanced disdainfully at Alpha Leonidas, remembering how clueless he was when they were younger. He’d acted more like he was picking a fight than courting her. It took several one-on-one duels before she figured out his true intentions.
Shaking her head with a smile, Luna Amethyst brought out two gift boxes and placed them in front of the siblings. "Aunt Amy, what is this?" Arix asked, surprised to receive a gift in return.
Luna Amethyst winked and put a finger to her lips, signaling for silence. "These are gifts for you, but what’s inside is a secret for now. Arix, you must wait until you get home to open it."
"Thank you, Aunt Amy." Arix, though curious, nodded obediently and tucked the gift into her Space Button.
The siblings chatted for a while longer before finally bidding farewell to Alpha Leonidas and Luna Amethyst.
As they walked out of the palace, Cassian suddenly remembered Arix’s previous wish. "Oh, Arix, the Celesterror Protection Act will be announced the day after tomorrow," he said, knowing how much Arix had been waiting for this news.
As expected, Arix perked up immediately, her excitement obvious. "Really?!"
Cassian nodded confidently. "Yes, the national council has already approved it. Now, it’s just waiting for the official announcement."
"That’s fantastic! Mama Tiger will be so happy," Arix said, thinking of Mama Tiger and her four cubs. A genuine smile spread across her face. With the Celesterror Protection Act in place, she could return to the Alliance with peace of mind.
Chapter 172 A Nice Mecha
On the way back, Arix sat in the carriage. She looked a bit lost, staring at a new Space Button in her hand.
Cassian had just given it to her, insisting that the previous gift didn’t count and this was a replacement. But Arix knew Cassian was just giving her another goodie, thinking she needed it.
Arix sighed. She had already accepted it, so there was no turning back. Fortunately, her Arix Crystal dividend from the Alliance had arrived, so she could plan a return gift for Cassian once she got home.
Drexel noticed Arix’s mixed feelings about the gift, which only soured his mood more. "Arix, if you don’t want it, I can do you a favor and take it off your hands," he said, his eyes gleaming with envy as he eyed the Space Button.
Arix looked at her brother, almost ready to scold him. But knowing that he had no income and was under their mom’s strict watch, she softened. "I’ll check when I get back. If I don’t need it, I’ll give it to you."
Drexel hadn’t expected his offhand comment to result in Arix actually considering sharing the gift. He felt a surge of pride, like a father watching his kid grow up. The gift itself didn’t matter; it was the thought that counted, making all his care for Arix feel worthwhile.
The more Drexel thought about it, the warmer his gaze became. He reached out to ruffle Arix’s hair, feeling a glow inside as he said, "I was just joking. This is from your friend, so you should keep it."
Arix looked at Drexel in surprise, not expecting such a noble response.
But the truth was, Drexel regretted it instantly, feeling like crying inside.
Pretending to be generous while being broke was tough.
Feeling worse by the second, Drexel took out the gift Luna Amethyst had given him, planning to open it to lift his spirits.
"Didn’t Auntie say to wait until we got back? Are you opening it now?" Arix asked, curious.
"We’re almost home, so it doesn’t matter," Drexel said, finding a weak excuse. Then he opened the box. Inside was a mecha-specific Space Button necklace.
Seeing the necklace, both siblings’ eyes widened in disbelief. They stared, confirming they weren’t seeing things.
"It’s a mecha Space Button!" Arix exclaimed, her mouth hanging open in shock.
Drexel swallowed hard. If there was really a mecha inside, this gift would be insanely valuable.
After a tense glance between them, Arix signaled with her eyes for him to check the Space Button.
Drexel nodded, his fingers trembling as he picked up the necklace. Slowly, he channeled his psychic power into it
When he saw what was inside, his heart skipped a beat and then started racing. He withdrew his psychic power and stared at the necklace, his face a mix of shock and disbelief.
"What’s inside? Tell me already!" Arix urged, impatiently.
"A m-m-mecha... I-I really saw a mecha," Drexel stammered, too nervous to get the words out.
"Well, duh! What’s in a mecha Space Button if not a mecha? A Connective Pod?" Arix shot back, her sarcasm cutting through the tension.
Drexel, still stunned, finally managed to say, "Supergiant-Class."
Arix’s jaw dropped. She swallowed hard, her voice trembling, "A S-Supergiant-Class mecha?"
Drexel nodded stiffly. Then he quickly added, "You should check yours too!"
"Oh, right! I have mine!" Arix hurriedly opened her gift. As expected, it was also a mecha-specific Space Button necklace.
Taking a deep breath, Arix channeled her psychic power into it. Inside, she saw a fiery red mecha holding a sword. The class of the mecha made her quickly withdraw her psychic power in shock.
"How is it? What class?" Drexel asked anxiously.
"It’s also a Supergiant-Class mecha," Arix said, her voice shaking.
Upon hearing this, Drexel fell silent. The siblings stared dumbfounded at the necklaces in their hands. Then Drexel suddenly looked at Arix.
"Arix, these are Supergiant-Class mechas worth billions of astrocredits. Do you think Luna Amethyst might have sent them by mistake?" Drexel wasn’t blinded by the value and suspected an error.
Arix agreed. She opened her opticomputer and instructed, "PP Boy, contact Luna Amethyst."
"Ding! Contacting Luna Amethyst, please wait." A 3D virtual screen popped up, followed by PP Boy’s voice.
It didn’t take long before Luna Amethyst appeared on the screen. "Arix, missing me already?" she said with a cheerful smile.
"Auntie, did you send the wrong gifts?" Arix asked urgently.
"Did I? Weren’t they two mechas?" Luna Amethyst tilted her head, looking confused.
"They are mechas, but they’re Supergiant-Class!" Arix struggled to stay calm, fighting the urge to scream.
"Then there’s no mistake; they are indeed two Supergiant-Class mechas," Luna Amethyst confirmed, visibly relieved.
"That’s too..." Arix began, but Luna Amethyst cut her off.
"Alright, Arix, it’s nothing to me, really. Be good, I have some things to take care of. Bye for now," Luna Amethyst said quickly before ending the call, almost as if she feared it might linger another second.
As the screen went dark, Arix put away the opticomputer, feeling a swirl of emotions. She looked at Drexel and said, a bit helplessly, "She said she didn’t make a mistake."
"But these are way too valuable. Maybe we should ask Grandpa," Drexel suggested.
Arix nodded, thinking that was probably the best course of action.
