Chapter 124: The Test
Chapter 124: The Test
Watching the embarrassed Drexel, Arix chuckled softly.
Arix nodded in approval, then turned back to the platform ahead.
The test had begun. The first little cub slowly made its way to the center of the platform and stood there, waiting quietly.
Everyone’s eyes were on the cub, as if expecting something. Their faces were even more nervous than the cub’s.
A mysterious energy surrounded the little cub. Then, in a flash, a tiny wound appeared on her forehead.
A single drop of blood emerged from the cub’s forehead.
The blood floated over to the forehead of the tiger statue and merged into it like a drop of water into the sea.
Soon, an emblem glowing with red light appeared on the tiger statue’s forehead.
Arix hadn’t quite figured out what the red emblem meant when the Holy Temple was filled with sighs.
’Does this mean her talent is poor?’ Arix wondered, frowning in thought.
"Krylak, Level 1 blood purity, next," Krylak announced with a sigh.
The cub’s parents were heartbroken, but they tearfully carried the oblivious cub off the platform.
"Garrick, Level 2 blood purity."
"Zara, Level 3 blood purity."
"Donovan, Level 6 blood purity."
The next cubs showed decent talents, especially Donovan, who caused quite a stir among the Tiger clan.
Another genius was born.
Level 4 blood purity meant that after transformation, his psychic and physical powers would be Supergiant-Class.
Donovan’s parents were so thrilled they nearly fainted.
Originally from a side branch of the Tiger clan, they weren’t even allowed to live on the home planet.
But because of Donovan’s talent, they could now move to the main family’s place.
This was a huge honor for any side branch member of the Tiger clan.
As the number of cubs waiting for the test dwindled, Arix started to understand the test.
From level one to seven—with seven being the highest blood purity level, and one the lowest.
After a while, only Drexel and Arix were left.
Drexel turned to his sister and asked, "Arix, do you want to go first?"
Arix shook her head. It didn’t matter who went first.
Seeing his sister shake her head, Drexel didn’t hesitate. He walked straight to the center of the platform, mimicking the cubs by standing still and waiting quietly.
The Tiger clan members were quite curious about Drexel, the big cub. As soon as he stepped onto the platform, he immediately drew everyone’s attention, sparking a wave of discussion.
The process was the same as before. First, a mysterious energy surrounded Drexel. Then, a tiny pinhole appeared on his forehead.
A drop of blood emerged from the tiny wound, quickly condensing in mid-air and floating at the center of his forehead.
The blood droplet then flew to the forehead of the tiger statue and merged into it.
Soon, the emblem on the tiger statue’s forehead glowed red.
This red light, indicating the lowest blood purity, instantly caused a stir among the Tiger clan members.
"Oh my god, that can’t be right. His beast form transformation is so perfect; how can he have the lowest blood purity?"
"Could it be a mistake?"
"Impossible, the statue has never been wrong!"
Hearing the discussions of the Tiger clan, Arix frowned, also finding it hard to believe.
It wasn’t that she had too much confidence in her brother; Drexel was indeed very strong.
Both his physical and psychic powers were naturally Supergiant-Class. It was impossible that his bloodline purity would be so low.
’Is it that the human bloodline within Drexel was overpowering the therian bloodline?’ Just as Arix thought she had guessed correctly, the emblem on the tiger statue’s forehead changed again.
"Blue light, that’s level four!" someone yelled out.
Not only Arix but the entire Tiger clan was dumbfounded. "What is happening?"
The Holy Temple fell silent.
Everyone was just about to accept that the tiger statue might indeed have malfunctioned, but then, it lit up red again.
Tiger clan members and Arix stared in shock. "Wow, this is really confusing."
The tiger statue’s forehead kept alternating between red and blue.
It was like a disco light, and Arix almost thought it was a dance party.
Fortunately, after a while, the light on the tiger statue’s forehead finally stopped, and everyone’s hearts, which had been thumping wildly, also calmed down.
But the test result was rather hard to describe.
The light on the tiger statue’s forehead was half vivid red and half deep blue.
Heh...
This awkward color combination left everyone speechless.
The atmosphere in the Holy Temple became silent, and everyone stood there, dumbfounded, looking at each other.
Finally, Krylak, the clan leader, broke the silence and said, "There’s nothing strange about this. We have records about it. For instance, if one’s mother is from our Tiger clan and the father is from another powerful race, their offspring might inherit talents from both parents. That’s why the test showed two results."
"Does this mean his blood purity is low or high?" one of the Tiger clan members asked from below the platform.
"I can only say it’s not bad. As for what the future holds, no one knows for sure," Krylak replied, leaving it at that without elaborating further.
After speaking, he turned to Drexel and asked kindly, "Drexel, right?"
Drexel nodded obediently and politely called out, "Yes, sir."
Krylak squinted his eyes and smiled warmly, "Good boy, Drexel. Make sure to attend the blessing ceremony next month. As for your blood purity, whether it turns out to be the lowest or the highest is something only your future self can determine."
Drexel was even more confused. He felt that Krylak’s words were as ambiguous as the results from the tiger statue. It was like they were both glowing and not glowing, both saying something and saying nothing at all.
It was like Schrödinger’s cat, leaving him utterly puzzled and without any clear answers.
It was simply maddening.
Krylak knew Drexel must be brimming with questions. Instead, he just smiled and read out the results with little fuss.
