Chapter 119: Tarvork Cured

Chapter 119: Tarvork Cured

At the entrance of the clan estate, Krylak, the leader of the Tiger clan, stood with four elders. They were bidding farewell to Velkor.

Surprisingly, Torvak was also there.

At this moment, Krylak put his hand on Torvak’s shoulder and said, "Are you sure about this? Won’t you reconsider?"

"Thank you, but I want to spend my remaining time with my grandfather," Torvak replied, looking at his grandfather standing beside him. He then smiled and shook his head at Krylak.

Velkor did not object and affectionately patted Tarvok’s hair with a kind smile.

Seeing the determination in both the grandfather and grandson, Krylak did not argue further. He sighed and said, "Alright, here are two spacecraft tickets to Planet Sapphire and some supplies. Please accept them as my final gesture of help."

Hesitating if he should take the two tickets and the Space Button handed to him, Torvak glanced at his grandfather.

Velkor nodded, indicating he should accept them.

Torvak then took the tickets and Space Button, expressing his gratitude to Krylak, "Thank you."

Krylak smiled and nodded. The four elders also took out their prepared Space Buttons and handed them to Torvak.

Feeling touched, Torvak and Velkor accepted everyone’s kindness. After a few more words, Velkor prepared to leave with Torvak.

Just then, Scion’s servant hurriedly arrived.

Seeing that Velkor and the others had not yet left, the servant breathed a sigh of relief.

"Young Master, the admiral has something for you," the servant said, handing the black potion to Torvak.

"Is this really from Cousin Scion?" Torvak exclaimed joyfully.

Everyone present was equally surprised, staring at the potion in the servant’s hand in astonishment.

"Yes, Admiral Scion gave it to me and said it would treat you. He said you should drink it now. It will cure your illness," the servant said, trying to relay the admiral’s message succinctly.

The crowd fell silent at these words.

Even Torvak was stunned.

If it hadn’t been the admiral who said this, no one would have believed the potion could do magic.

But Velkor heard it clearly. He excitedly took the potion, opened the bottle, and quickly handed it to Torvak, saying, "Drink it, now."

Torvak still found it hard to believe he could be saved, but hearing his grandfather’s words, he nodded in a daze.

He took the potion and, under the expectant gazes of everyone present, drank it all in one go.

"How do you feel? Do you feel any better?" Velkor asked, looking at Torvak with concern.

Torvak frowned, not answering his grandfather’s question. His mind was full of how awful the potion tasted.

But thinking that this potion could cure the illness that had plagued him for years, he forced himself not to throw up.

As the horrible taste finally faded, before he could say anything, he began to vomit black blood, mouthful after mouthful.

This dreadful scene alarmed everyone, who quickly gathered around in worry.

Krylak immediately picked Torvak up and rushed back to the estate to find a doctor.

Lying in Krylak’s arms, Torvak actually didn’t feel any discomfort, except that he couldn’t stop vomiting blood.

And strangely enough, the more he vomited, the better he felt.

Although Torvak was puzzled, seeing the worried looks on everyone’s faces, he wanted to reassure them that he was fine.

But with his mouth continuously spewing black blood, he couldn’t say anything.

Moreover, his blood-soaked appearance scared everyone into moving even faster, leaving no time to notice his attempt to speak.

...

Dr. Morkai of the Tiger clan was lounging in his garden, enjoying a peaceful breakfast. He took a sip of goat milk, closed his eyes, and let the rich, creamy flavor spread across his taste buds.

After finishing his milk, he picked up a golden toothpick, speared a small blueberry, and popped it into his mouth. The sweet and tangy taste made him squint with delight.

The weather was perfect, and so was his mood.

As the only doctor in this clan, this was the kind of life he felt he deserved.

Thinking about Torvak, the little rascal leaving the clan today, Morkai couldn’t help but feel a bit of satisfaction. Yet, he also felt a wave of joy.

That little troublemaker had been a thorn in his side for over a decade.

No matter what Morkai was doing, there was always a patient named Torvak who was disrupting his peace.

For example, whenever Morkai finally managed to fall asleep after struggling with insomnia, frantic knocking would sound outside his bedroom.

"Dr. Morkai! Help! Torvak has passed out!"

Morkai would open his bloodshot eyes, and glare towards the door like a ghost. Then, he’d take a deep breath, and grudgingly get up to make a house call.

Another time, just as Morkai speared a piece of meat with his fork during a meal, someone would burst in out of nowhere, grab him, and run while explaining anxiously.

"Dr. Morkai, sorry to bother you, but saving a life is urgent! Torvak is in critical condition!!"

With a blank expression, Morkai would listen while still managing to eat the meat on his fork.

But the most annoying time was when he was in the middle of relieving himself, and the knocking started on the bathroom door.

"Dr. Morkai! Help! Torvak is vomiting blood!"

Morkai’s hand stopped, and he let out a furious roar.

Remembering these bitter moments, Morkai quietly speared another blueberry, trying to let the sweetness comfort his wounded heart.

But before he could put the blueberry in his mouth, there was a knock on the door.

Morkai frowned, puzzled as to who would need a doctor so early in the morning.

"Dr. Morkai! Help! Help! Torvak is vomiting a lot of blood!!!" Krylak shouted anxiously.

Snap—!

The golden toothpick in Morkai’s hand broke. He looked up at the sky with lifeless eyes, took a deep breath, then got up to open the door.

What he saw was Torvak, covered in blood.

Morkai’s frown deepened, and he quickly set aside his complaints to examine Torvak’s body.

It didn’t take long before Morkai suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief, staring at Torvak.

"Dr. Morkai, how is Torvak?" Velkor asked worriedly.

Morkai frowned, staying silent. He then stood up and led the way, saying, "Come with me to the treatment room for a detailed examination."

Velkor and the others, without any doubt, quickly followed.

Half an hour later...

Morkai stared at the virtual screen with a mix of emotions. The health report displayed a single short line: "Healthy, slight anemia."

He knew what each of those words meant, but together, they formed a conclusion that baffled him. Torvak was really healed.

’Is the person who treated him a genius, or am I just not good enough?’ For the past decade, Morkai had scoured countless ancient texts, yet he had never found a way to save Torvak. ’So how did this mystery person manage to do it?’ He wondered.

Confounded, Morkai turned to Velkor and asked, "Has Torvak received any treatment recently?"

Velkor shook his head, then tentatively added, "Recently, besides from you, Torvak hasn’t received any treatment from others. But just now, after drinking the potion sent by Admiral Scion, he started vomiting black blood continuously. So, what’s wrong with Torvak?"

"The admiral, huh." Morkai lowered his eyes, deep in thought. After a while, he looked up at the group and said, "Torvak is fine now. I mean, he is completely cured."

Everyone was stunned, exchanging looks of disbelief. Velkor, in particular, asked with difficulty, "Are you serious? Is Torvak really cured?"

"Yes," Morkai nodded affirmatively.

Upon receiving this confirmation, Velkor burst into tears, collapsing to his knees and crying out in regret, "It was Scion who saved Torvak! Gosh... He saved Torvak. Look at what I’ve done to him!"

The person he had wronged save his closest kin. That was no better than a direct slap on his face, although that also made him glad.

The others present understood the gravity of the situation. Apart from a heavy sigh, they remained silent.

Morkai’s feelings were different from theirs. He found them noisy and irritating. Besides his curiosity about the admiral’s potion, his mind was only on the breakfast he had yet to finish in the garden.

Thinking about the blueberries still waiting for him, Morkai mercilessly issued an order to leave, "Since it’s all good now, take him out."

Ignoring their reactions, Morkai left the treatment room.

Krylak and the four elders were left staring at each other. They sighed and stayed behind.

Back in his garden, Morkai resumed his small breakfast, savoring the delicious bites while watching the birds flit among the flowers. His soul felt lighter, and even the frustration from earlier melted away.

After finishing his meal, Morkai leisurely turned on his opticomputer and initiated a video call to Scion.

"Uncle Morkai," Scion answered quickly.

"Torvak is fine now. By the way, the potion you gave him, who was the Master Chemist that made it?" Morkai asked, curiosity piqued.

"It wasn’t a Master Chemist," Scion replied calmly.

Morkai looked at Scion in surprise and asked, "Then who was it?"

Scion remained silent, just looking at him quietly.

Morkai understood that this was something he couldn’t talk about. He pouted and said, "Then can you at least get me a potion for my own research?"

"No," Scion said with a poker face, continuing to look at him quietly.

Morkai understood again; this meant he was being annoyed. So, without further ado, he hung up the call. He thought resentfully about Scion’s expressionless face, wondering who besides ignorant women would want to see it.

’Recently, there hasn’t been any chemist around Scion. Who could have made this potion?’ Morkai wondered, scratching his chin and falling into deep thought.
