Chapter 982: Chapter 982 I Won’t Give the Original to Anyone Else Chapter 982: Chapter 982 I Won’t Give the Original to Anyone Else But now, two people who had been just fine, didn’t know how to cope anymore…
Qin Youxuan looked on, gradually falling into silence, quietly watching the ripples spreading on the river surface…
…
On the other side, as soon as Dan Hanjie left, Ning Yanan quickly returned from the cafe to her small apartment.
Once inside her room, she set her bag aside, took the materials Dan Hanjie had given her to the computer, and analyzed them one by one.
She only truly believed that Dan Hanjie wanted to help her after confirming that all the materials she had received bore the Dan Group’s seal.
Ning Yanan didn’t bother with anything else and uploaded the documents, eventually sending them to the intelligence team. By the time she finished, several hours had passed.
She was so busy that she hadn’t even taken a sip of water. Leaning back in her chair, she let out a long sigh of relief.
Only then did she start feeling thirsty. She picked up a water cup by her side and went to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of her bag and, with a start, something crossed her mind, her expression changing.
She hesitated for a few seconds before moving forward, rummaging through her bag for quite a while, but couldn’t find the pregnancy test she’d just bought.
“Where did I put it…”
Ning Yanan sat on the sofa, turning her bag inside out from top to bottom, but still couldn’t find the pregnancy test.
Narrowing her eyes, she carefully retraced her steps.
She must have lost it when she climbed out of the storm drain.
Forget it, it’s not something valuable. She’d buy another one next time she went out.
“Ding dong–”
The doorbell rang, startling Ning Yanan, who quickly stuffed everything back into her bag.
She carefully hid the original documents Dan Hanjie had given her before standing up, gun in hand, and cautiously approached the door, peeking out through the peephole.
“It’s me,” the man outside mouthed two words, and Ning Yanan quickly twisted open the door.
“How did you get here so quickly?”
“I’ve been here the whole time, waiting for you to return. I didn’t expect to receive a message from intelligence saying that Dan Hanjie granted you privilege, allowing you free access to the Dan Group’s docks.”
The man entered the living room, casually shutting the door behind him and moving forward.
His gaze searched the table, finding no such documents, before he looked at Ning Yanan.
“I’ve already secured the originals. Apart from myself, I won’t give them to anyone else.”
Ning Yanan wasn’t foolish, she was well aware of the threat the materials she held would pose to Dan Hanjie if they leaked.
“OK, that’s not my main concern. I’m just here to tell you that action team has a different plan this time. You don’t have to act personally; another colleague will follow up on your work. Just hand over the entry permit to me,” the man extended his hand toward Ning Yanan.
“Why? I’ve always been responsible for this case, and I don’t think it’s a good idea to hand it over to someone else at this crucial moment. I monitor the Dan Family’s docks every day, no one knows it better than me,” Ning Yanan stepped backward, rejecting the suggestion.
Turning her back, she brought the glass in her hand to her lips and took a big gulp.
The cup was placed heavily on the table.
“I don’t care how you’ve discussed this, but I must be part of this operation.”
She had to personally take down Dan Rong, to do right by Qin Youxuan and justify their years of friendship.
“Ning Yanan, remember your role, don’t let your personal ideology infiltrate the mission because of being undercover for too long. You only have to obey the organization’s orders!”
