I'm not sure what chap ur up to but the nightmen are definetly not emotionless. Also, emotions aren't just brain activity and chemicals in this novel, there is also the involvement of souls. The aliens don't actually have souls and are emotionless and need to rely on races that have souls to create energy. If the aliens could create or manipulate souls, wouldn't they use that on themselves? Really, this could be a complete plot hole and thinking about it more definetly won't go anywhere.

ik the nightmen aren't loyal to humanity, but nick managed to manipulate their dna to essentially have no emotions, so if an even more advanced biological alien race were to manipulate the dna of a newborn, surely they could limit or remove certain emotions of their new champion that would lead to them feeling sympathy or empathy for humanity? I'm not rlly talking about the sun per se, but the entire alien race, as the sun is just a construct made by them
But the nightmen aren't loyal to humanity? I get what you are trying to say but biology in this novel doesn't work this way. Yeah they could have manipulated the champions memories or something but my headcanon is that even though the old champion of light did disobey them by blocking their perception, he didn't actually do something bad. Also it's mentioned somewhere that using the sun's secondary abilities as in something outside of granting abilities and advancing specters takes up a ridiculous amount of resources.

yeah bro i get what you mean that their ideals changed after working with humanity, but what I am trying to say is that when a mistake happens once, you generally don't let it happen a second time. The alien race had countless methods to ensure undying loyalty to them, such as changing the dna of the champion before they were born like what our mc did with the nightmen, but the aliens decided to leave a loophole for the second time, which is just plain stupidity
both the champions of the sun that are shown in the story were definetly loyal and tempted by the sun, but as they worked with Aegis and humanity, their ideals changed. Really this a major theme through the novel, where one persons benevolence or aspirations spread to each. Fighting for humanity has been like the entire plot of the novel so far, I don't get what other path the plot could progress

firstly bro the sun picked the champion when they were very weak, then power levelled them up to a shield, so theoretically they could have picked anyone to become the champion, so why not indoctrinate the person you want to become the champion to have undying loyalty to you... it is shown that the person picked to be the champion was essentially a nobody earllier in the story, when they commented on how nobody had heard of the shield who became the champion, before they became the champion
the sun can't read the mind of a fucking saviour, thats completely absurd

The only question i have is why the aliens don't pick champions who are 100% devoted to them? They can pick literally anyone to become the new champion, especially after they saw the old champion rebel against them, yet they pick this dude who is essentially a normal guy who just wants to do good. This champion is goated icl, but it seems a bit unrealistic for the new champion to be the same as the old champion
