Yes the sulking thing feels a bit too much although kinda matches with Lament so I get the reasoning. But imo if the author brought them together at the end of the story even after all that has been done throughout to keep them apart, I would not like it and it would feel like a reduction in quality. I kinda like how the author stuck to this type of ending even if us readers feel bad, it feels more real kinda

Distrust would have existed and still exists in the current timeline. I just find her excessive desire for self-punishment to be highly reductive to the story at large. I understand why Ellen did it, but it doesn't mean it makes sense.
Regardless of what hopes or expectations they pin on the hero, all of that would fall on moot ears if she just showed them the truth of how madly in love they are with each other. Anyone who would see them together would realize that expecting anything from the hero is pointless just the moment you see how she looks at Reinhart.
One of my favorite novels for having a complete no loophole story 9 out of 10 at least. It has been an amazing journey and the emotions are so well conveyed, I felt every second of that sorrow and really believed in that love. It was such a beautiful story with great character development and it's not written for the readers to love but feels more like that the author didn't mind being hated just to be true to the story, the ups and downs of each character were crucial to what made this a perfect romance (the chivalry kind).
I heard a ton of hate comments for this novel and how this tumbles after 400s but I gotta tell you it was that was what made this even better, the distrust the feeling of betrayal and everything made it even more worth reading.
PS: A song that suited this novel according to me- Those starry blue eyes

s*it she raised a playboy, just like his father. Anyway that's a rather anticlimactic ending, enjoyed the read realistically this novel should be a 7-7.6/10 but me personally it's an 8.5-9 as the first novel I manually MTLed back in the day and only finally finishing 3 years later after 2 rereads. What a journey.
I don't dislike the ending, a lot of cool loose ends were tied up and a lot of character development but it's just disappointing that we didn't get much intimacy with any of the wives besides Harriet. Really a missed opportunity, even Bertus had more action with his hag wife.
Also it was really amusing seeing comment within the hour of you Spiderman. Anyways it's 4am I'm going to sleep
At some point the chapter numbers aren't correctly written, i noticed around ch 5687 labled as 5700
Finally we have the name
🤣🤣🤣
Reading this after so long, still miss this novel even tho it has it's flaws

How is this novels comment section empty😭. It's such a good novel. The first 450 chapters are 10/10, and the rest are a solid 7-8/10.
