You're assuming that God's could easily defeat Daemons, I think they are equally matched, Hope getting imprisoned could be due to other factors at play too.

The price for killing a daemon is awakening the forgotten god. That's why the gods never killed the daemons even though they were the spawn of their flaw. That's why Hope was imprisoned and not killed.
