Guys, the Duskbringer is Nick's truest form. He is a version of Nick who gets to do all the things Nick couldn't do. See, I think you forgot. The only reason Nick isn't like Duskbringer is because of his conditions and environment. Him being a specter, his past disastrous actions and most importantly his duty to free Humanity. He couldn't afford to let anything stop him from completing his task, even his own emotions. I think only time he allowed himself to become free was with Aria and the times he looked at the Earth from the Moon. I don't think you guys understand how much he yearned to be like the Duskbringer. An entity that could have an opinion that is not crushed down by the Alien's authority. Nick Dusk was never supposed to win. The moment he joined Aegis, he wanted to die to relieve himself of his pains. Imagine dealing with years of genocide and pain. Duskbringer allows Nick to have his end and restart himself as well. Beautiful story.
I am not sad that Nick is gone. He's finally happy. He's happy with his final decision and now that he can't do anything more, he will eventually (hopefully) reach peace in himself. He must.
The guts to pull all this off while being 1 or 2 levels below them is absolutely insane. This guy has no fear. Actually no. He has so much will, fear has no effect on him. Unfortunately he still feels ALL OF IT. Sometimes I forget that. He still feels. And that's what I love about him. His Specter form only enhances himself.
I think it's on purpose. One thing Warmaisach always does is this. At any point where a plot point is certain, he speeds it up because everything is pretty predictable upto a point. Any plot twist here would not be essential for viewership either. Especially in the latter parts of the story.

A little rushed but I'm liking the way things are developing.
They could have probably done it as you said, but they wanted to push the suffering to the max so the specter ripen up and then consume their Zephyx build up. The worst part is that this was the most efficient way for the aliens. The torture was *necessary*...

Long and gruesome asf, I thought it'd be some flash and boom dead but this, is a another level of sickness and demented behaviour
