My Favorite Game Followed Me! -
Chapter 455
“I thought it would take us six to seven months before we arrived at the Gale Continent?” Anna asked.
“Although I’m not sure, I think we’re traveling much faster than the Amelia. I’m not even sure that land is the Gale Continent. We can only confirm by asking questions of the people there. I saw a town, and everything looked normal,” Anton replied.
Anton controlled their boat to land beneath a tree near the road and dispelled the Cloak of Shadow skill that had been surrounding them ever since the start of their escape from the Undead Coalition. There were no people around, so no one noticed them. Once they had landed, Anders immediately stored the lifeboat in his spatial amulet.
Normally, travelers would need to have a lot of baggage with them, but since the three of them had spatial capabilities either through their skill or items, they didn’t need to carry bags. They didn’t even need to freshen up because a simple cast of the Cleaning spell, the three looked as fresh as if they just came out of the washroom, and the clothes they were wearing were extremely high-class, at least in the Amelia, and sparklingly clean.
“Let’s just start walking to that town that you saw, Anton,” Anders said.
“It’s that way,” He pointed to the east of the road.
The road they were walking on was just a simple dirt road, and Anna started to get annoyed because her shoes and clothes became dusty.
“You don’t have to worry too much about that, Anna. Before we enter the town, you can just clean everything with a spell,” Anton told his sister.
While they were walking, they talked about their immediate plans.
“Once we arrive in that town, we’ll stay at an inn to rest, then we’ll gather information. Once we have all the information we need, then we can continue planning our next steps,” Anders told his children.
Anton and Anna simply nodded and proceeded to concentrate on walking without lifting a cloud of dust from the road. After several minutes, Anna gave up. She cast a cleaning spell to clean herself, then retrieved a floating board that Anton gave her, and proceeded to sit on the board and control it to move forward together with Anton and their father.
Anders and Anton continued walking instead of flying or using their hovering boards. He wanted to walk because he wanted to feel his legs moving. He had been sitting for months on end on their small lifeboat and didn’t want to continue doing so, and Anton felt that Anders was the same.
It was a couple of hours before noon when they arrived at the new land, and based on the distance of the town, they should arrive there a few minutes before noon.
While they were walking, Anders told his children that the date was supposed to be June. That meant that Anders and Anna celebrated their birthday while they were in the middle of escaping the undead. Anders was now forty-five years old, while Anna was thirteen. Anton felt a little guilty for not greeting his father and Anna, happy birthday, but then again, while they were on the run, there was nothing to celebrate about, and silence consumed their days.
More than likely, both his father and sister didn’t want to celebrate their birthday, and if it were Anton, he would be the same. Why celebrate the advancement of your age when all of your friends who were supposed to celebrate it with you were dead?
At the very least, while they were on the run, their wizardly advancement was so fast that Anna and Anders could be considered very powerful mages, especially Anna. She was only thirteen years old, but she had already reached wizard rank five. It wasn’t official because they needed certification that came from an organization that conducted wizard rank testing using the testing tool, but the fact that she could now memorize and cast rank five spells was confirmation enough that she reached that level.
Soon, they encountered travelers. They were villagers who were delivering things to the town that they were going to, but they didn’t approach anyone since they were already near the town and would just conduct their information gathering there.
When Anton, Anna, and Anders saw the town, they were a little surprised. It was very large and could already be considered a city. The gates were guarded by some sort of militia, but based on Anton’s observation, the guards were just ordinary civilians who looked like they had no police or military training.
Anders was frowning at them, but Anton liked it. It meant that the place was peaceful enough that there was no need for serious military power or something but that’s just a theory.
Anton also observed that the language the people were speaking was the same as theirs and only contained a little bit of accent, just like the accent that Antonia, Lucia, Walter, and Philip were sporting.
No one stopped them at the gate, which was a little unbelievable in Anton’s opinion, but then again, there was a chance that the wannabe soldiers might have been intimidated by their appearance. They did look like rich nobles because of the clothing and accessories they were wearing.
The town consisted of cobblestone, and the houses were a mixture of wood and stone. The tallest building that Anton could see was around three stories, and he didn’t know if they were private or public buildings.
While they were walking the streets of the town, the three encountered patrol officers, and this time, the officers looked professional and well-trained.
“Father, why did the guards look untrained while the patrol officers looked professional?” Anton asked his father.
“In a company of guards, whether they were assigned to guard the gates or patrol the city or town, there were competent ones and there were those who spent their days slacking off. Maybe we just unluckily or luckily encountered the lazy ones,” his father told him.
It wasn’t that important to Anton, so after a while, he forgot about it. Anders asked some of the pedestrians about an inn or hotel where they could stay, and probably because of their clothes, they were pointed to a very luxurious inn.
“How long should we stay here?” Anders asked his children.
“Let’s stay for at least three days, and could just add more days if needed. I need some sleep,” Anton told his father.
They entered the inn and Anders spoke with the innkeeper. The man was very polite to their father probably because they really looked like nobles with their luxurious, clean clothes, fair and smooth skin, and hair that normally could only be seen in shampoo commercials.
Their father rented three rooms, one for each of them, and an attendant led them to the second floor where their rooms were located. When Anton entered the one assigned to him, he was satisfied with how clean it was. After closing his door, he proceeded to undress, clean himself with his cleaning spell, and directly headed to sleep.
Of course, Anton didn’t forget to activate one of his Frozen Orb air conditioner enchanted item since it was a little hot due to the season and then placed the Pearl of the Ocean in one of the end tables and without further ado, slept the sleep of the dead.
Anton woke up after a few hours, and when he checked the time, it was already nine in the evening. He proceeded to eat food he retrieved from his inventory, spent a few minutes rotting his brain watching short videos, and then slept again.
