The Xi Family's 9th Young Master was no more, with his head now sailing through the air.

Bai Ning and the last survivor felt a sense of urgency unlike any other. Without hesitation, they sped up their retreat, attempting to reach the Sect Grounds before it was too late.

Like the grating sound of a clicker scratching a chalkboard, the five Lizardcobras reared their blood-filled maws back and screeched like banshees. They then bounced off the ground, baring their fangs while honing in on the two stragglers.

"Shit!" Bai Ning cursed while occasionally glancing behind her and seeing the trees part ways. 'Will I have to use THAT here!? Already??'

"N-No, Ahhh!!"

Taking her out of her thoughts were the agonizing cries of the last of the newbie disciples who joined her on what should've been a simple Sect Mission. She briefly glanced to the right, only to see five pairs of sideways-blinking reptilian eyes staring back at her.

That was what passed through Bai Ning's mind as she made her legs move faster than they ever had.

Unless it was absolutely necessary, she couldn't use her Family Heirloom!

She had to at least try to escape using only her own strength first!

After some time of darting through the destroyed land, Bai Ning ultimately came across a sparkle in the distance. Attracted by whatever this was, she took a detour and dashed in that direction, where she then came to a complete halt at the sight of a small tree around half her height.

For some unknown reason, she felt that this tree was more special than that.

The Lizardcobras had caught up…

They were blocking off all Bai Ning's routes of escape. And as their mouths curled up into cruel, animalistic grins, the despair truly began to settle in for the cornered girl.

Sharply pointed roots shot out of the ground around the Lizardcobras, running four of them through in an instant!

As for the last Lizardcobra, it was too scared by the gruesome scene before it to fight back. And without caring about the life or death of its brethren… it ran away.

Bai Ning, who was too stunned to speak, stood there and watched as purple-blackish roots undulated through the ground. But before they could catch up to the last Lizardcobra, like cords that reached their limits, they rebounded.

However, further adding to Bai Ning's astonishment was the appearance of three tiny shadowy creatures. Right after materializing next to the small unusual tree, they raced in the direction that the last Lizardcobra escaped in.

Jointly carried on their backs was the relatively large corpse of the Lizardcobra. Looking closely, one could determine that its head had been bashed in by an extremely strong force, as brain matter was oozing out of the place of impact.

Bai Ning couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Necro wasn't quite sure what those words really meant, but still nodded with his mesmerizing branches.

Bai Ning wasn't sure why a powerful Demon Beast like this tree would want to cooperate with her, but for the sake of preserving her life, she agreed. And with that, Necro asked her all sorts of things, filling in the holes that were left open in his knowledge bank.
