Chapter 477 -38 Desolate Domain Shock
Desolate Domain, vast and boundless, with Ancient Sects erected and the Four Great Ancient Forces standing guard here, enduring for hundreds of thousands of years without decline.
This is an extremely powerful domain, filled with the strong.
Yet today, the Desolate Domain is shaken by an incident.
“The head of the Nalan Family from the City of Mist, Nalan Hong, was ambushed and killed outside Lake of Death by a cultivator at the Martial General Realm.”
For many years, there had been no major figure who had fallen in the Desolate Domain, and Nalan Hong was the first in nearly ten thousand years to have died in a duel.
This alone was enough to cause a sensation.
But what was even more unbelievable was that Nalan Hong was ambushed by a minor cultivator at the Martial General Realm.
This was simply inconceivable.
Being at the Martial General Realm, let alone facing a great figure from the Yin Yang Realm, even facing those at the Martial King Realm would be as weak as an ant. So, how could he have slain a powerful figure from the Yin Yang Realm?
Many forces sent people to Lake of Death to investigate.
City of Mist, Nalan Family!
Both elderly ancestors who oversee the Life and Death ordeal of the Nalan Family personally came out of seclusion.
These two ancestors, thought by the family members of the Nalan Family to have long since passed away, had not actually died but were instead in cultivation retreat, unseen for three hundred years.
“Oh, ancestors, the clan leader’s death was tragic; it’s said that his physical body was corroded by the lake waters of Lake of Death, turning into a pile of rotten flesh. Please, ancestors, avenge the clan leader and wash away our enmity!”
The high-level members of the Nalan Family knelt before the two elders who had come out from seclusion, one dressed in white, the other in grey, their bodies hunched over and extremely pale. The glint in their eyes was a greasy green, causing the members of the Nalan Family to feel a chilling terror, as if facing two fierce ghosts crawling out from their graves, giving them a sensation of their hairs standing on end.
The elder in grey spoke eerily, “What a cunning little creature, let big brother oversee the family, and I will go kill that little beast!”
The elder in white nodded and said, “Good! Don’t kill him directly. The boy seems to be full of secrets. Let’s capture him and interrogate him; obtaining all the secrets before killing him isn’t too late.”
The elder in grey nodded and then soared into the sky, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Helian Family.
“Are you saying our family’s Death Soldiers, along with Helian Zhen, all died at that boy’s hand? Nalan Hong too?”
Clan Leader Helian Zheng looked grimly at the Third Elder.
The Third Elder nodded and said with a bitter smile, “Helian Zhen has been out of contact; it seems he has fallen.”
“Damn it.”
Helian Zheng’s gaze was extremely sinister. He and Helian Zhen had been friends since childhood, and after he became the clan leader, he had supported Helian Zhen to become the leader of the Death Soldiers.
Over the years, they had coordinated well, one overtly and the other covertly. Now that Helian Zhen had died, leaving the position of Death Soldier Leader vacant, and thinking about the Great Elder’s wild ambitions, Helian Zheng felt a headache coming on.
“It’s all because of that calamity, Helian Ze. If not for him, why would I have sent Helian Zhen to pursue that boy, resulting in Helian Zhen’s dreadful death?”
Helian Zheng said in a frustrated and angry tone.
“Clan Leader, what should we do now?” The Third Elder asked, his brow furrowed as he said, “There might be movements from the Great Elder soon.”
Helian Zheng asked, “What about the Nalan Family?”
“Word has it that those two undying old men from the Nalan Family are still alive, and have come out of seclusion,” the Third Elder said.
“That boy who was able to kill Helian Zhen and Nalan Hong must be exceptionally capable. Now, our Helian Family is facing both internal and external troubles. I’m sorry for Helian Zhen, but I can’t avenge him. Let the Nalan Family handle that boy.”
Helian Zheng sighed.
“You’re doing this for the greater good. Even if Helian Zhen knew of your decision from the realm below, he wouldn’t blame you,” the Third Elder quickly added.
“I hope so,” Helian Zheng sighed.
Little did Helian Zheng know, his decision today would eventually save his family from being eradicated altogether.
…
Deep in the ancient forest wilderness, within a secluded cave,
Although the news of him killing Nalan Hong had caused an uproar outside, Lin Feng knew nothing about it.
He had been in seclusion for half a month already.
Although he had killed Nalan Hong initially,
Some of the water from the Lake of Death had seeped into Lin Feng’s body. If it weren’t for the Heavenly Fire suppressing the lake’s water inside him, he would have died countless times over.
During this half-month, Lin Feng had been tirelessly working to resolve the water from the Lake of Death within him.
It took a full half-month, but today, he finally neutralized the water from the Lake of Death. The waters of the Lake were indeed too sinister.
Fortunately, Lin Feng possessed Heavenly Fire; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to refine and neutralize the water from the Lake of Death.
“I’ve finally neutralized this sinister water from the Lake of Death!”
Lin Feng took a deep breath.
He frowned slightly, recalling the sight of the Old Demon and the old woman plunging deep into the Lake of Death. He didn’t know what those two powerhouses were up to, and realized it wasn’t something he could meddle in with his current strength, making him show a wry smile.
He left the place of his seclusion, and ten days later, Lin Feng came across a small town.
The town was bustling with activity, and Lin Feng entered.
Lately, many cultivators passing through were talking about the recent killing of Nalan Hong.
However, Lin Feng found it normal, as the death of a powerhouse from the Yin Yang Realm would naturally cause a huge stir.
Lin Feng planned to find a place to rest before heading to the Star Cloud Pavilion.
The Star Cloud Pavilion was located within “Star Cloud City,” one of the Ten Great Ancient Cities in the Desert Domain. The Star Cloud Pavilion was a dominator-level force within the city and one of the Four Great Ancient Forces of the Desert Domain, known for its long heritage and formidable strength.
Lin Feng hoped to join the Star Cloud Pavilion for cultivation.
…
“Excuse me, young man, are you planning to travel to Star Cloud City?” Suddenly, a questioning voice reached him.
Lin Feng turned and saw a man in his late twenties, tall but with an honest, simple face. When the man saw Lin Feng turn, he scratched his head.
Lin Feng nodded and spoke, “I do plan on going there. Why, are you heading to Star Cloud City as well?”
The young man replied, “Yes, indeed. We are currently in Pingyao Town, which is half a month away from Star Cloud City. But the journey is fraught with dangers, not only from fierce beasts but also from formidable bandits. A single misstep could lead to death along the way, so I would like to invite you to join our group. There’s safety in numbers, and if we encounter any fierce beasts or bandits, we can look out for each other.”
